Chris Bernacchi

Chris BernacchiChris Bernacchi is an investigator with the Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance. Before that he spent 25 years with the Sacramento Police Department (CA) before retiring.

While working as a detective Chris was able to work a variety of different criminal investigations that allowed him to understand the direction and level of questioning needed for different crimes. Whether it was a sexual assault victim or a violent criminal suspect, Chris has interviewed them all.

As a student, you’ll get the benefit of an instructor who has “been there and done that.” Chris was fortunate enough to have worked with many seasoned investigators over the years to learn what worked and didn’t work with investigative interviews. Chris has taught at the local police academy, conducting in-service training, and lectured at the community college level. He understands the legacy of policing and the importance of passing along his knowledge to other officers.

Chris believes learning is more than lecture. He understands students need practical and experiential training in order to become effective investigative interviewers both in the field and inside an interview room.

When Chris isn’t conducting investigative interviews as part of his full-time job, he is busy teaching our Modern Interview and Interrogation training course. Click the link to see where Chris will be next.
