Eddie Chan
Eddie is a current sergeant with the San Jose Police Department in California. Not only is San Jose the birthplace of the FTO concept, it’s also a big department that cycles multiple classes of recruits through the FTO Program. Eddie spent the past 14 years as a FTO Supervisor and has seen nearly every issue before. One of the things our FTO students like best about Eddie is that he gives them specific and practical tools that work.
Eddie has over 30 years of law enforcement experience and has worked assignments in FTO, Motors, SWAT, and Air Support. Eddie was awarded the department’s Medal of Honor for making entry and leading a contact team into a massive active shooting incident at the VTA transportation facility in San Jose, CA.
Eddie started his career with the much smaller Milpitas Police Department in 1994 before joining the San Jose Police Department in 2001. That means no matter if you are from a small or large agency, Eddie can provide you with the training strategies that will work in your situation.
As an instructor for all our Field Training Officer courses, Eddie is helping our students maximize their performance and become expert instructors.
Eddie teaches our FTO, FTO Update, and FTO Supervisor courses. He also consults with agencies who are looking to turn their field training program into an effective training system. Eddie has consulted with agencies just like yours in projects big and small. Whether you need a quick custom training course for your FTOs to develop their teaching and remediating skills or your whole program needs an overhaul, our team has done it before and is ready to help you do the same.
