16 hours of training to prepare you to promote to Sergeant
There’s only one job harder than being a police officer in 2024 and that’s being a sergeant! Every department agrees that sergeants are the most important role in the agency, yet most departments aren’t properly preparing promotional candidates to be successful. That’s why we created the Intro to Supervision seminar.
This is more than just another training course that will look good on your resume, this is the culmination of everything our instructors believe new sergeant candidates need to know. This seminar was carefully crafted to present you with real world skills you can actually use.
From how to ace the oral interview process to the top practical skills you will need to know once you’re promoted, this 16-hour intensive seminar is going to skyrocket your chances of being promoted. More importantly, this will help prepare you to lead other officers safely and confidently.
This Seminar Includes:
- How to Master the Oral Interview
- The top 3 things to avoid once you have been promoted!
- Transitioning from doer to supervisor
- Building, leading and caring for your team
- Supervising in-progress calls (prioritization and decision-making)
- Officer involved shootings and use of force incidents
- Managing crime scenes
- Reviewing reports and uses of force
- Writing employee evaluations
- Risk management
- Employee issues (This is the toughest part!)
- Supervising special units
- Realistic options for managing a difficult employee
Your instructor is Sergeant Erick Maldonado, who recently retired from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. 9 of Erick’s 29-year career was spent as a supervisor. He has supervised patrol teams and special operations units such as SWAT and K9. Erick will give you a behind-the-scenes look at not only supervising hot calls and major incidents —that’s the fun stuff! — he’ll also show you how to manage the challenges of employee issues and how to address the day to day problems you’ll need to solve as a sergeant.
